An Enterprise TCEQ report describes a 24-hour PDH unit flare in Mont Belvieu, TX on May 6, 2025.
According to the TCEQ filing, an auxiliary boiler shut down due to high superheater temperature leading to loss of high pressure steam requiring the shutdown of other equipment and rerouting of process streams to control the flare.
Enterprise personnel implemented engineering protocols and plans to maintain flaring, while operating to ensure vented hydrocarbons are properly combusted and limit flaring to the extent possible. Operators were investigating the cause and preparing to restart the unit.
According to Resintel’s supply / demand database, several PDH lines at the site produce up to 9.5 billion lbs/year of Propylene.
