In a letter dated January 13th Ineos contacted its customers declaring a Force Majeure on its HDPE Bimodal Film and Pipe products. On January 12th a TCEQ filing was made in which it's La Porte, TX plant reported an emissions event from a failed valve which resulted in a reactor dump.
Ineos' La Porte, TX plant has a total annual HDPE capacity of 3.108 billion pounds. Blow Molding and Injection grades are also made at this location but only the Bimodal products were mentioned in the letter. Our HMW Film Resindex Export prices rose $11/MT on the news based as supply was already snug for the grade.
